Finally....Closure

Kazi was sick yesterday when I got home from school so I ended up not going to volleyball, but that was ok because it turns out I forgot to register for this session anyway! Kazi had flu-like symptoms so I made a quick run to the grocery store and bought gingerale, apple juice, clear soups and soda crackers.

During that time someone left a message on my cell which I forgot at home. Gee I'm getting forgetful...isn't that the first sign of...hmmmm can't remember. Anyhoo, I checked the message and lo and behold the insurance company finally got their hands on the police report from Kazi's accident back in October. AND THE OTHER DRIVER WAS CHARGED!! Kazi can move on now - she was so happy because she KNEW the other driver and their "mystery witness" weren't telling the truth.

This also means I will be receiving a $500 check as the other driver's insurance will be paying my deductible! I'm going to put part of it on my Line of Credit and the rest into emergency savings. My goal for NO SPEND February was to bump up my emergency savings which now stands at a measly $830 so cheers all round:)

Since I didn't go to volleyball I rode my bike, but rode at lower resistance and only 15 km. Knees feel good today. It was good to give them a day's rest.

So here it is, 7:21am and I'm having a great day! Hope you are too!!

  2. I'm so glad things worked out for your daughter - I was a party to an accident like this when I was about 28 and a 19 year old was to blame (my first accident by the way). She made a call on her cell and while the cops were interviewing, 3 guys who said they were in the office building across the street showed up. They claimed they saw the whole thing and I was speeding. Of course, a lie. The day I received my $500 deductible back was fabulous. However not enough for the month I had to go without my NEW car, that was less than a month old. :(

Take care of those knees - make sure you stretch after working out, even if you feel like you don't need too. Maybe some Joint Juice???

  6. Hi sis: good news from Insurance Company, it's a no-brainer that of course Kazi tells the truth..go easy on the Ibuprofen, a lot is not good for you..I had to give up on the recumbant bike as my left knee didn't like it..so have to settle on walking outside most days..also piled up three gardening books and do steps up and off them! My fav. actor Colin Firth got a Golden Globe and his movie is showing here next week..that's where I'll be on cheap Tuesay..love L.Dee

  8. I'm so pleased to hear your good news. Getting the money back is a bonus. In the fall DH got rear-ended by a guy speeding (thanksfully only his car was hurt not him), and though it was clearly not DH's fault, we had to pay the deductible because the speeding guy didn't have insurance. They told us that if the cops charged him, we would get our deductible back, but that took literally months. It made me nuts. When the cheque arrived, I did a dance of joy!

  10. YAY! What a relief for Kazi at last! :)

I was done in by a mystery witness. Some lady backed into me in a parking lot - I had THREE teenagers witness it, but she produced her 'mystery' witness who obviously had more credibility than my 13-year-old skateboarders.
Worst part is I was right, she was wrong, and I had to pay.
