Keep Calm and Carry On

I wasted a bunch of time today trying to get Blogger's "embedded comments" working on my blog but no luck. There is a reply button after each of your comments but when I click on it nothing happens. I set it up correctly according to their instructions but by the look of the feedback I'm not the only one with problems. I SO WANT it to work!!

Oh well..."Keep Calm and Carry On"...that's my mantra! So when I weighed myself this morning and I hadn't lost any weight over the past week I took a deep breath...and carried on! I'm actually happy I didn't gain any weight as this weekend was a bit of a bust. We were invited out for dinner Friday night and I stuck to the roasted veggies, grape tomatoes and chicken (encrusted with corn flakes, I never knew how good that tasted!) and then I had a small slice of lemon meringue pie - my favorite! Oh yes, let's not forget the three glasses of red wine (oops!) Then on Saturday night a friend and I ate at Jambalaya and while I went with the intention of having the Jerk Chicken Salad I somehow ended up with my usual favorite that I simply can't resist - the Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp. I also had Thai soup as an appetizer (which I surely didn't need) and 2 white wine spritzers with sour Green Apple - yum yum! Then my friend and I went to a movie (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close - a must see!) but no popcorn or drink for either of us. (I only ate half of my pad thai and had the rest last night for supper!)

So I should consider myself very lucky I didn't gain weight so I sit at a total of 6lbs lost for the past 3 weeks. I can live with that, and have renewed my efforts today resisting all temptations at work and here at home...so far:)

Oh, a wee bit more month end financial information; actually it's very exciting to me, maybe not to  you, I had 17 NO SPEND days in January!! That has to be a new record for me AND I had $50 left in my account so I took $40 out today and put it into my SEALED POT!! WOOT WOOT!! AND I'm starting February with $25.00 in my wallet - I don't even need to take any cash out! It's funny talking about little bits and bobs of money as if I 'm a bloody millionaire or something but really I'm thrilled! And that's on top of my little $14 splurge on Friday at the Goodwill store LOL!

So my mantra for February - "KEEP HOME AND SAVE ON"!

I'm going to put my February challenges and goals on a page up top so I can keep reminding myself what I need to accomplish. But first - to the bat bike bat girl!! It's time to work that butt!!

na na na na na na na na Bat Girl!!

Holy Roman Empire, Batgirl! You had a great month.

About the comments thing, you could use Disqus. It lets you reply to comments, it's super easy to install, and you can import all your old comments. (that's a little bit trickier, but it is doable)

wow I was just thinking about cornflake chicken the other day LOL! I've only made it once(no cornflakes!) but it was suprisingly good!

6 pounds off is pretty darn good!! If I remember right a pound a week is considered right on track. It is funny to be counting nickles, dimes and dollors for a month but the end results are really amazing. You had a wonderful month!!

6 lbs. lost is pretty good!  I weigh in every Wednesday morning, so I'll post an update then (I'm not in any official challenge - just my own.)

Love the Batgirl reference!  She is so cool!  Great job on your sealed Pot Challenge.  You will have quite a bit of loot when it is all said and done.

well done, and I agree those small amounts of cash add up to big amounts of cash over time.

I weighed myself and hope to lose 6.2 lbs during the month of February, but remember I am not on a diet, as the word diet means failure in my books!!Gill

I use Intense Debate for commenting but maybe Disqus is the way to go.  I've seen people starting to use the updated Blogger system but I like my system because I can reply and it shows up on my blog and emailed to you at the same time.  Can Disqus do this?  Let me know!  m.

You're right Gill - I don't like using the word "diet" either!! Diets don't work but perhaps "eating clean" will! No packaged or processed food at all!

Lisa - I would be thrilled to reach $1000 in my Sealed Pot! I still can't decide what to do with it come December, perhaps put it towards a trip!

I had hope that by joining a challenge I would try harder. So far so good but when an invitation comes along I'm not going to deprive myself. My self-control has been pretty good so far. I'll check in with you on Wed.

I love the picture at the top!
You really are doing well with your weight loss. And if you ate and drank all of that and still didn't gain-I would consider myself very lucky.

Thanks Sonya - I also did 20km on my bike so that probably helped offset the calories a bit! The picture is of my farmhouse out in PEI - I've never seen it in the winter - the previous owner, who keeps an eye on the place - sent me this picture of it.

Hey Jane thanks for this post. I just added Disqus to my blog too :) I've been wanting to do something like this but thought it would be way too complicated. It'll be interesting to see how this works out.

Love the bat girl picture! You are doing so well Jane, and just think of the treats you bought with your cycling. Your dinner sounds delicious!

Congrats on the non spend days too!

Good luck for February!

The Bat Girl is so cool.
You have done great on your Jan. challenges. I managed 16 days no-spend and I'm very happy about it.
Not sure about this new comment box, so I'll give it a try.

Okay, so is this blogger or disqus??? I'm confused.  I would LOVE to reply to each comment too, but I'm waiting for my whole blog to be revamped.

This is disqus and so far I love it!

You're welcome! If I can get it to work it can't be too hard LOL! It's running smoothly so far!
