Just Wanna Let You Know

My beautiful daughter was in a car accident late Saturday night - she is Ok - sore knee, fractured wrist, sore tummy from the seat belt and aches from head to toe.  Thank God for seat belts and air bags or her injuries would have been so much worse.  She was hit by another car running a red light.

We spent the day at emerg and I am taking a couple of days off to deal with doctors and insurance claims. We think the car is totalled but will deal with that tomorrow. I'm kind of glad I didn't see the car - I think I would be totally freaked out if I saw the damage. We are just so thankful that she is ok.

Will update you all tomorrow and thanks for being there.

  1. Jane, I hope that you manage to take care of both yourself and your DD. Vehicles can be replaced but not our children.

  3. Very scary stuff but so glad your daughter is OK. I know we do not know each other, but I gave a prayer of thanksgiving to God for the good outcome, what a blessing. Sure does make the gift of life precious, doesn't it?

My son was in a terrible accident about ten years ago. He walked away with minor scratches, but the driver and another passenger were killed on impact. My son still has issues dealing with what happened. Still gives me the shakes when I think about it and feelings deep sadness at the loss of his friends.

  5. thank God she is ok. I had a wreck nearly 2 yrs ago and it really shook me up and I was SO lucky..when I saw the car at the sohp I didn't even recognize it yet I walked away with just a burn on my arm from the air bag hitting it..wasn't even sore other than that but it took me over 6 months to stop shaking so much when driving. I had to make myself get behind the wheel!
    glad she's ok

  8. I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's accident. I hope she's feeling better soon. Please feel free to ignore this unsolicited advice, but I feel compelled to say this: don't hesitate to retain a lawyer to protect your daughter's interests if she needs treatment for her injuries. I work with many people injured in car accidents and while some insurance adjusters are great to work with in terms of rehab benefits, some can make recovery more difficult.

  12. Jane my thoughts and prayers are with you. Thank God she's okay. I had a car accident about 9 years ago, hit ice and flew in the ditch, I walked away with only a scratch but the car was totaled. Take your time but do let us know how things are.
    Hugs to both of you.

  14. So happy and relieved my beautiful Kazi has been saved once again from a careless driver..A few bruises and the soreness will go away with rest and she'll be on the mend again. We will have to start imagining a big protective bubble wrapped around her when she goes out from now on..Give her our love L.Dee and Jeem

  16. Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and prayers - it really means a lot to me. Kazi has a wrist fracture, some bumps and bruises but is doing well under the circumstances. She is sitting across from me typing emails (in French and with one hand!) to her professors to let them know what happened.
We have a rental car and will now just sit tight until the insurance adjustor calls.
