Michael - This One's for YOU!

Don't ya love a man who helps clean? Just ask Auntie Eboo, she'll tell ya! A week or so ago Michael took it upon himself to clean out and clean up the fridge and freezer. These two photos are not the real "befores", I didn't get a chance to take "befores" but these older photos show the fridge and freezer in their usual state of "MESS"!!

Over stuffed with lots of "old" stuff in behind. The rule is, you don't check what you have before you shop you buy more, just in case.

When I arrived home from wherever, this was how the fridge looked - bloody SPOTLESS!!
All the shelves back in, squeaky clean!!
No old food in there now!! See all of those containers with the red likes?? That's my homemade soup that I take to school EVERYDAY!! I change it up with different veggies - this week it has a big helping of chopped cabbage and celery in it and it is simply delicious, nutritious and LOW CAL!! No meat, no beans, no rice, no barley, no pasta....just yummy veggies, lots and lots of veggies! For protein I take a small container of cottage cheese OR yogurt OR a hard-boiled egg OR a few pre-cooked strips of chicken bacon OR a few slices of lean chicken or fish.
Look at the absolute white purity of the door shelves! Old stuff is gone and there is empty space - OMG!

Oooooooh, it's all shiny!! Thank you Michael - you really made my day!!...no my week....no...YEAR!!

  1. can I borrow him for a week? prettty please?! and wow you take soup and one little protein? girl I PACK half the fridge to take to work LOL - maybe that's why I'm fat huh? but I eat all 3 main meals there plus snacks in the 12 hrs I'm there and sometimes I store stuff when I'm doing 2-3 or 4 in a row so I dont have to be awake enough to remember what to bring!

  2. And what's even better than a man who helps clean (like that isn't good enough?) - one who doesn't even wait to be asked! Hmph. I want one!

  6. In the morning I have an omelet - 1 egg plus about 1/3 carton of just egg whites with some cheese, then halfway through the morning I eat a bunch of berries: blueberries and blackberries. So far it all seems to satisfy me but I also have a good snack around 3pm (lunch is at 11:30am). I also cheat on my diet alot (wine, chicken wings, dark chocolate) so don't think that I'm wasting away here lol!!

  7. Oh wow. Sorry, but my mind is still in sibling-mode, and the first thing I would've asked him is: "What is it that you want/are after?", followed by "What did you break/destroy/ruin/mess up?" My siblings taught me one can't ever be too careful when people do nice gestures... there's always a reason for them, and with younger siblings, it's never a good one!

  13. great job on the fridge Michael!  does he do ovens as well?
do you have a recipe for your veggie soup?

  14. Our oven really needs cleaning - I'll make sure he reads this post and comments lol! Here's a link to another post with recipe for my soup. I do change it up a lot to with different veggies and sometimes (when I'm not on a diet) I add kidney beans, black beans or navy beans.

  18. You are welcome!!

  19. With anyone else I might have that reaction - but Michael never does anything with the expectation of something in return. He's just a genuinely nice person, so rare these days.

  20. Jane,
He certainly did a great job of cleaning out the fridge.
It's funny because your fridge looks like the same make as ours. The contents inside also look similar, it was weird to see actually right down to the Bick's green relish.
Your veggie soup sounds wonderful to have during the week, especially right now while the temp. have really dropped.

  22. Hmm, you can spare Michael for a couple hours this summer, right? You and I can visit while he cleans the fridge!

  23. I just mentioned your proposition to Michael and he said "of course"! And he would too, you know! But he also said you would have to cook something up for him! He has a BIG appetite!

  24. Well, it's late and Jane is passed out on the couch with a headache from parting too much at our friends. We were invited over for dinner and had too much fun. I am still awake and decided to check up on her blog, and to my surprise saw this post.

I am definitively ready to go on the road, I do love cleaning and I do ovens too. Which reminds me to work on that next. You are all so kind, thanks for the wonderful remarks.  Kim  I look forward to a nice meal and @703ab4d26b3c3051fbf5c2ff6686c953 smith938
when do you want me to come by?

Jane, what an amazing group of friends you have, it's a pleasure to be included in this community. Cheers.

  25. Well thanks honeybunch for letting everyone know that I over indulged last night lol! In more ways than one! Our friend Troy is such a good cook, I guess that's why she teaches in the culinary dep't of our local college!  The menu consisted of a shrimp appetizer made by Michael, cream of asparagus soup with multi-grain baguette, arugala salad with roasted walnuts, blue cheese and mandarin oranges, 3 cheese, chicken and zucchini penne and for dessert triple chocolate cake soaked in Bailey's and served with maple walnut icecream. Oh, and a different wine with each course!! After a month of eating egg white omelets, salad, veggies and fish it was all a bit much! Though I did thoroughly enjoy it at the time! P.S. glad you saw the remark about the state of our oven my dear:)
