Yesterday was a gift from the gods, and also from our Premier Dalton McGuinty - thanks for giving us Family Day Dalt! The sun shone so fiercely yesterday, the sky was bluer than blue and I found much evidence of spring! Ain't life grand!
Let this be a lesson to you: do not act silly on the top of a hill.....
Because you could soon find yourself at the bottom of it with a broken hip....luckily I still have good bone density and after a minute of belly busting guffaws I got up and shook it off. There were more pictures of me limbs all akimbo but I thought your opinion of Michael might drop if you knew he was zooming in for closeups while still unsure that I was all in one piece.
Don't think I wasn't tempted to accidentally give him a good push right about now....
or hurling a rock or two in the general direction of his head while he crossed a branch to a little island in the stream...(suddenly I feel like singing...)
Even without the greening of spring Coldstream looked radiant!
Still a few morsels of ice here...
and there....
Perfect reflections in the stream...
Peek-a-boo! Alright, I forgive you...
Michael's creation...
Watercress sandwich anyone?
Something's growing!! Not sure what...Marguerite - you're my go to gal for all things growing...Sarracenia?
Another picturesque bridge...
Eeeek, someone help me down...!!
It's like a postcard!
Michael took these from the other side of the stream... the little boy first tried adding a piece to Michael's inukshuk...
then had a better idea....build one of his own!
It was a great day for building, exploring, having adventures, playing and rolling down hills ass over teakettle!!
Jane, I think it's some type of pitcher plant ( an insect eating plant)... I'm glad you enjoyed your day off! And that you're safe and sound!
ReplyDeleteWow you take some amazing pics, Jane!! I love seeing them.
ReplyDeletelooks like fun - as I sit here snuggled in an afghan! the weather has been beautiful here too - rained half my time off but oh well I was only out in it once and that was Saturday.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a lot of fun!! beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Thanks for sharing, Jane :)
ReplyDeleteOh how pretty!!! Looks like no snow for us at all this year :(
ReplyDeleteYou are a brave woman. One of these days you will really hurt yourself. First I would ask if you are okay and then laugh.
ReplyDeleteI was well padded, never fear! But I did learn a lesson - only act silly in safe places...like in bed!
ReplyDeleteYes, if you like snow this has not been a good winter. We had a few inches two weekends ago and some of that is lingering. But now they're calling for RAIN!
ReplyDeleteSnuggling is fun too!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics again, Jane.
ReplyDeleteSilly geese!
You two need to grow up! Honestly, having fun at your age. No Lady I know would go running around the woods with God know who!
ReplyDeleteI'm just jealous. I need that energy.
m.
What a lovely Famiyl Day it was! We took our first hike with our little man (7 months old) and he thoroughly enjoyed it (falling asleep in his carrier about half way through). Couldn't ask for a better February day. Glad you weren't injured-snow comes in handy for padding :)
ReplyDeleteoh it looks wonderful out there in the snow! thanks for reminding me I need to get out more!
ReplyDeleteIt was the perfect day - not too cold and lots of sunshine - makes a person glad to be alive!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got out to enjoy the day with your wee one - 7 months old - how time flies! It's such a great age - but then I said that every year about Kazi!
ReplyDeleteWell, keeping up with Michael is no picnic sometimes I tell you! There aren't too many days when he isn't bubbling over with energy! Now I sound like I'm bragging LOL!!
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad your camera doesn't have video... Ass over teakettle would've made a great video post! ;) lol! Looks like you had a great day! Beautiful shots!!
ReplyDeleteMy camera actually DOES have video so I'm thanking my lucky stars Michael didn't think to use it!!
ReplyDeleteI did look up some photos on google and did come across some pitcher plants that looked similar it's just that most of the pictures show them blooming and not when they're just beginning to grow so i wasn't sure.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your input!
It's the same plant in your banner picture. It's skunk cabbage (symplocarpus foetidus).
