The After Shots

Oh what a day! I had one of those slow motion moments when I realized I'd left my keys in my car as the door slowly swung shut and I belatedly tried to grab the door before it shut....too late. Kudos to the guy at Talize who tried to climb through my open trunk to reach a back door lock but to no avail as the back seat was loaded with the stuff I was dropping off. Many thanks to Michael who borrowed a friend's car to bring me his set of keys. Two doses of Tylenol later and my head is still throbbing albeit not as badly as before.

Too much going on in my head. The new semester starts Monday and I have some work to do to get ready. We had a staff meeting this morning and the teachers all felt under attack by the administration as they complained about a number of things they felt teachers were doing wrong. It wasn't pleasant - teachers are tired right now after exams and marking and report cards and felt bullied - they fought back with reasonable arguments and the stressed out atmosphere brought on the headache.

During the meeting I was receiving texts from Kazi - her now ex-boyfriend (FOR THE SECOND TIME!!) has decided he's "just not that into her" and of course she's beside herself with grief and didn't want to be home alone. So I packed up my school books and headed home first stopping at Talize to drop off all my stuff from the room cleaning I did yesterday. Then the OOPS slo-mo moment! Michael to the rescue - what a great guy!

As I can't concentrate on school work right now I am going to post the AFTER PHOTOS from yesterday's cleaning, de-cluttering and organizing project. There are still a couple of areas in our guest/TV/cat/dressing room that I want to attend to - my two jewelry boxes and organizing my summer shoes in "under the bed" bins but otherwise the room looks fantastic - Michael couldn't believe the difference in my closet!! It is a big relief to get that scary closet finally under control.

I've been playing around with Picasa web albums learning how to make picture collages - it's not so hard! So the above collage is the "before" picture: bed hiding underneath piles of crap; one side of the closet covered by a 18" deep pile of shoes; and my overloaded shelves which contain not only clothes but my vitamins, lotions and makeup.
The AFTERS: the bed is ready for guests!; boots which were littered around the bedroom floor now share ample space with dress shoes; and there is actually room on my shelves (but don't worry, I'm NOT going shopping any time soon!

What has left the room and is now residing at Talize: a huge pile of clothes on the floor in addition to two bags full; 2 bags of hangers, a bag of shoes (I miss them already!); a box of stuff, and a bag of garbage. Woo hoo!  I think if you click on the pictures they get bigger.

I'm so relieved this job is done! I still have an achey lower back and my neck hurts too so no de-cluttering projects for this weekend - just school work instead!

How are YOUR projects coming along?

  7. Ha, good one! Michael was reminding me that during the first week we met he had to come over and help me because while trying to move a cabinet I pulled a TV down on my head (yeah, wasn't pretty) and I had a huge lump on the back of my head. I have to remember I'm not getting any younger and sometimes I need to ask for help! HEEEEEELP!!

  15. Wow it looks great Jane..are you accepting guests to stay now?! ;)

Poor Kazi - we had similar ups and downs over Christmas with Katie, my daughter. They've broken up for good now, after she finally wised up and kicked him into touch (thankfully), but at the time it was awful. I feel for Kazi - hopefully it'll get better.

  16. oooh, good job, Jane!
I hate locking myself out of the car; haven't done it in years, but the last time I had to wriggle in through the back window whilst wearing a dress! Bad enough that, but it was my old 4x4 and so was covered in mud! Not a pretty sight!
Hope Kazi brightens up soon; nothing worse than heartbreak, even if heartbreaker is a cad!

  18. I can't tell you how many times I've locked the keys in the car!  I have a very good friend who drove to my house and retrieved the second set of keys to save me...so embarrassing!

  22. I just had too much on my mind! I need to get an extra key made and keep it at my neighbour's house, she has my house key, so why not my car key? And thanks, the room was a lot of work and I'm so glad it's done - now to just KEEP it that way lol!

  24. Good story Kim! I've managed the coat hanger trick a few times over the years but haven't crawled through a window yet (though I would if I had to - I guess one of the few occasions where being small is helpful!)

  25. Yes by golly we ARE accepting guests now lol!  A breakup is never pretty but she's doing better the second time around. It's hard because of course they spent so much time together, so that's why we went out for wings last night. And she's trying to keep herself busy too which helps a little.

  26. Organized, rich and you're gonna break his legs?  We sound like the mafia lol!

  28. Your room looks amazing and sooo inviting!
Every time that work gets you down just remember you are super close to retiring!!
And where in the hell does Kazi's ex-boyfriend live, I have a plan and a shovel. Tell her to write the rat-bastards name on the bottom of her shoe and then jump up and down and go for a run.

  29. Jane,
Sounds as if you have been very busy and the spare room looks very inviting for guest.
Hopefully your daughter moves on. She is such a pretty girl I'm sure she will have no problem finding a man that will treat her right.
