Today I went back to my feminist roots, yes indeedy. I told myself that old truism (because yes, it's based on the truth!) -
"anything a man can do, a woman can do better!"
And so I proceeded to pack the back of the truck, bearing in mind that I had to contend with and make room for the 800 pound spare tire! And leave room for the cooler which will be packed tomorrow. And lift big heavy awkward boxes up into the truck. That's why I'm drinking a delicious concoction made up by me of mango sorbet and vodka :) It's for medicinal purposes of course....my back's a bit sore (NOT!)
I never thought I'd be able to fit in my dad's captain's chair, but I did!! And I put the cooler in though I haven't packed it yet, I just needed to see how much space it would take up. But it works, even all of my friend Jules art supplies and there's ROOM LEFT OVER - HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN??
Tomorrow I hit the dusty trail but not going TOO far - just to Barrie, maybe a 2.5 hour drive......for a JAM SESSION - woo hoo!! Friends that play at the pub in August are making a wee detour tomorrow to do a house party - so I get to see Jay and Tammy early this year - now that's the way to get summer or RETIREMENT off to a fabulous start!! Then I'll turn EAST -----------------
next stop New Brunswick!! to see good (no, GREAT) friends!!
OK....mango sorbet + vodka = YUMMY!
Have a great summer in New Brunswick and beyond!
ReplyDeleteJane,
ReplyDeleteHappy Retirement!!
Great packing job. Doogie really holds a lot.
Take care driving and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The Lupines and Phlox are just beautiful right now.The black flies are terrible.
Will you be celebrating Canada Day in New Brunswick?
Big parties planned here this year, you can't move around down town Charlottetown.
Again drive carefully and don't be speeding, you and Doogie don't want to have to pay a fine to get here.
Wave as you head past Kawartha Lakes!
ReplyDeleteEagerly awaiting your next report (no teacher reference intended!).

Look at you go! Indeed, anything a man can do, we can do better. That's how I felt packing all by myself. Enjoy your trip! And the drink. Should add some pineapple juice next time. I'm not an alcohol drinker, but mango and pineapple go great together!
ReplyDeleteGreat pack job.My husband is a mover and wants to know if you need a job!
