Good Friday

Today seems to be a day for rambling on about whatever pops into our heads. So give me a minute to clear my mind......

  • this is going to be a strange Easter; Michael has gone off to Trenton to visit his son, about a 5 hour drive from here and Kazi, reunited with her boyfriend, is off with him to Toronto to see a concert and so I am all alone until Sunday night
  • before you start feeling sorry for me please know that this is a mini-holiday for MOI!! and I love spending time with me, myself and I!! I don't often get any time to myself as it's a rare event that both Kazi and Michael are gone at the same time so I plan to revel in my FREEDOM!

  • today, being Good Friday, I am staying close to home and plan to read "The Hunger Games." I have lots of leftover Vietnamese food from last night's dinner out and an extra-large Timmy's to sustain me. If I feel really energetic (not likely after the stressful work week I've had) I'll clean up around here a little....very little!
  • I also plan to get my lazy butt back on my bike today, for some reason I've either been too busy or too tired this week to get that last few miles done that will bring me to Karen in Cape May.

  • tonight I get to watch whatever I want on Netflix - what luxury!! It'll be a real treat not to have to watch something about assassins or spies or ninjas!!
  • tomorrow I'll start tackling the laundry as the electricity rates are cheapest on the weekend. Then it's dinner with the girls and I've talked them into seeing "There's Something about Kevin"!! I hope they won't regret it! (it's more to my taste than their's!)
  • Sunday I want to get out into nature and I found an article in the paper about a conservation area where I've never hiked before.  Hopefully it won't rain! At some point both Michael and Kazi will return home and by then I should be missing them both....maybe...

  • early Monday I may head over to Talize, our local thrift store, because they are having a store-wide 50% off sale!! Starting at 7am!! I just might have to check that out! And then my thoughts will turn to school and I'll spend some time getting ready for another short work week.
  • On another note - Kazi has been hired by Mosaic, a public relations firm and she was chosen (one of 40) to be a BUD girl at the Blue Jay's home opener at The Rogers Centre in Toronto on Monday so it's back to Toronto for her. She'll be at one of the entrance gates handing out free Budweiser merchandise as they promote their new bar at the Centre and their new beer can and other products. I hear their sunglasses are the latest IN thing! (if you're 20). She's very excited! (me, not so much)

  1. Sounds like a nice quiet weekend.
If you feel like getting a head start on the laundry, today is a "cheap" day too - as it's a holiday.  (Well at least it is here with Hydro One.)

  2. I love the pictures of the churches and steeples.  Don't you just get a big feeling of UGH when your kids get some of their jobs.  I know mine have had a few.  I love time alone!

  4. I hate to use the word "kill" on Good Friday, but I would kill for a weekend on my own.  Sooooo, jealous.

  5. Hope you have a good weekend but don't overwork yourself doing chores. Really it's a long weekend to enjoy. I have taken Monday off so for me YAAAA four days off from the hell hole.
Kazi being hired by Mosaic is a big deal!!

  7. Enjoy your time alone, Jane.  I bet you will LOVE it!  My son went to see Hunger Games, said it followed the book ...almost.  The concept of that book gives me the creeps...but it's been really, really popular!  Give me a romantic comedy any day! :)!

  8. sounds like you have a good one lined up! I've gotten to where I get tired of being alone but I know even if I had someone I'd still want alone-time - it's always been my preference - just not all the time LOL!
    have fun!

  10. Ah, the bliss of solitude. Enjoy every minute.
Martin & I have mostly the same movie tastes, although the man has watched the Bourne trio one thousand times, but he's also watched Pride & Prejudice an equal amount of times!
A Bud girl! That's so funny, can you imagine? I'd have LOVED to do that when I was young! How we change ...
I want to read the Hunger Games, too. Let us readers know what you think, okay?
Have a great weekend! We've got a snowstorm heading our way, alas.

  11. Kim - it's good that there are those of you who understand the BLISS of time alone - I still feel that a lot of people don't understand the need some of us have for it! I read the Hunger Games from cover to cover finishing up about 9:30 last night. I enjoyed it so much I downloaded the 2nd one to my kindle. The heroine, Katniss, is my kind of girl - a real survivor who lives in her head a lot - I could really identify with her. Hope you don't get another blanket of SNOW!! Keeping my fingers crossed!PS - The Bourne movies are Michael's FAVORITES!! We own the set and whenever he can't figure out what to watch he turns to them, the old standbys!

  12. Slept all the way to 8:30am!! That means I'm finally relaxed after the week from hell! Trying not to overeat TOO much but me and chocolate are BFF's!!

  13. Finding that right balance, within a relationship, is very challenging. I find I do what Michael wants a lot more than doing what I want, so having a few days to myself is a real gift. I may not even get dressed!!!

  14. Finished the book! It was pretty tense at times but I knew the heroine would win out in the end! I was very tempted a few times to check the last page just in case but managed to resist - it was a great  read!

  19. Yeah, I'd rather she have a job that utilizes her brain not her looks, but she's 21 and her looks won't last forever! Thankfully she's well educated too!

  20. Oh, I didn't know about  that, I'll check into it, though now it's Saturday so oh well!

  21. sounds good! I've gone most of the day not changing but I have to at least pull on sweatpants or jeans or shorts to take the doggies out - at night I can get away with a lot but only so much LOL! I think a lot of relationships has one person giving in more than the other ...with my friend and her exhubby he was the homebody and she stayed close to home because of him - well until she had the affair LOL! I love time to myself and am glad I have a lot of it but would be nice for some companionship - someon to 'make' me want to get out and do some walking and stuff(and any man who coudl make me want to exercise is a real man!)

  22. I'd be at home a lot more if it weren't for Michael - I do appreciate that about him though - he gets me out and about to events and to spend time with friends where I'd be too lazy and introverted if left on my own. So I take my quiet time when I can get it, like now. And it was his idea to make me a "room of my own". He understands that I regain my energy my spending time alone whereas he gets energized by being out with others. so far we've been able to maintain a good balance.

  25. sounds great! I know you've been happy with him in your life. I understand the recharging - I enjoy myself with friends but I have to force myself sometimes to leave the house - I like being home LOL! guess I got used to entertaning myself as a kid and never shook it off. at least he understands what you need though - some people just never seem to understand /respect what a person needs/wants but sounds like ya'll have things down! have ag reat EASter - I slept most of it and plan to go back and do some more!
