Blahhhhhh!

Just letting you know that I am struggling with some things - pain, anxiety and depression. So I just don't have the blogging mojo right now. I always try to put a good face on things and most of the time it looks like I'm having great adventures and enjoying myself. The reality is something different. I have a couple of appointments this week - acupuncture and family doctor - I hope to be sent for an MRI as my back pain could stem from a variety of problems and is preventing me from following a "normal" schedule of activities which is contributing to feeling anxious and depressed.

So, carry on, I'm here in the background and will report on any progress made.

  1. Oh Jane! I hear ya! If you lived closer you could come and sit in my other recliner with the heating pad and the Robaxicet. My low back spasm woke me up today at 7. Stoopid bodies!
Tie a knot in the end of your rope and hang on!
And as I now believe: Better living through pharmaceuticals! Get some drugs that help to get a half decent sleep and help the back. R&R and gentle exercise.
    Take care!

  2. Sorry to hear of the bump in the road. BKat has a good idea: Think about just taking any Rx therapy recommended - it can "get you through" so that you're back to your usual fun-loving self, and you'll come out the other side better for it, with no harm done by the meds. In the meantime, see if you can do some happy reading or TV watching.
I'm going to recommend some TV that has had me ROFL recently, even as I went through some very UN-fun stuff (that came out OK.)
    The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
    The Last Man on Earth
    Portlandia
    I don't recommend these lightly! There's also "30 Rock."
    Report back, OK? ! ? !

  4. I'm a long time lurker but I really wanted to leave you a message today Jane. Your spunk and your approach to live has inspired me. I am thinking of you today. I hope that you can get support from those around you. I can see from your blog that you have given so much support to others through your teaching and your life!

  11. I went through a bad bought of depression a couple of times in my life so far and it's no fun, but drugs might do you a world of good temporarily.
If I could drive there with only 1 good eye I would! And we could hang out at the beach and drink until you forgot about all your cares and woe. Heck, once your back is better come on down HERE! We don't have a beach but we can hang out on the deck or by the fire pit and drink....oh heck, in front of the tv and drink(the only non-optional part is the drinking, right? lol).
I hope you feel better soon and the world gets brighter.

  14. Just read this, & can totally relate & understand. I, too, have suffered both debilitating chronic back pain for 10+ years, which in turn keeps me from getting a good night's rest, which in turn causes me to be depressed (along with having the constant pain). I TOTALLY get you. It's hard. Really hard. But doc did put me on Cymbalta - which was a bit helpful for the back pain & for my mental state. I also have to admit exercising (strengthening my core) has helped tremendously, even thought I absolutely HATE exercising. Hate.It. It has made a difference. Last thing you feel like doing, I get it. But if you can somehow get started, you may find some relief both physically & mentally. Hang in there - you are not alone!! <<>>

  15. Hey woman!!! I'm sorry about the pain, depression, etc. I'm praying you find some relief to both soon. I could always send Leon over. He can be a great pick me up but then he gets a little overwhelming, so maybe not...
