Update

Hello my friends. Thank you for the enquiries regarding my daughter. We hit a bit of a low point over the past couple of months and it's been hard to put pen to paper...so to speak. But we are very hopeful that the recent procedure she had done will put paid to pesky abnormal cells and she'll be enjoying full health soon. Well, soonish.

The procedure she had done is called LEEP which can be googled if you want the gory details. The doctor told her after it was performed that it had a 90% success rate so that is where the hopefulness comes in. She still has a year of continuous pap tests to go through before she will be declared free and clear. Every 3 months she'll have a pap test until such time as she has 4 clear tests in a row. Then she'll go to once a year.

Kazi is also doing battle with anxiety and depression resulting in going on short term disability. This has been a difficult struggle as resources around here, such as seeing qualified psychologists and therapists, are in such high demand these days as a whole generation of millennials try to get by on low-paying multiple jobs, many part-time and without benefits and without a hope in hell of ever owning a home or building up savings.

In other, happier news.... SPRING is on its way and we are enjoying a few warm and sunny days with lots of rain and a few snowflakes mixed in. I am doing a minimum of 20 minutes daily in nature to keep my own mood positive. This is my favourite time of year with the ospreys and other birds returning to my favourite spot, Kilally Meadows, along with many wildflowers and flowering trees. Just to keep my feet firmly planted I've started spring cleaning :) just for fun! I started with my dining room as it's an easy room to clean and hopefully by next spring I will have made it through the whole house!

I hope you are all doing well! My plan is to return soon to more frequent posting. Volleyball ends April 26 and I am looking forward to having more time on my hands for writing, genealogy and of course CYCLING!

Thanks for always being there, I appreciate it so much.

  1. Spring will probably cheer both of you up and once she starts to get the good test results, you will feel relieved. 90% success rate is very good. Both of you need to think positive and hope for the best. Seems like this thing has been caught very early and that matters a lot. Sending you good vibes from across the ocean and then some.

  2. So glad that procedure is done - I had exactly the same thing when I was 18 - I am not sure they do the same surgery as that was 30 years ago but scraped out the bad precancerous cells. I've only had other issues like fibroid ovarian cysts. I guess that was back before the internet so I was kind of oblivious to the possibilities and just listed to the positive. I hope things brighten up for your girl, it has been a tough winter indeed. Love your bird posts - so few get to monitor the birds quite like that. Hugs

  3. I will take 90 percent odds any day. I know it is hard to keep a positive spin on things all the time though. Hopefully the new beginnings of spring will help both of you. Thinking of you as you continue through this. I have enjoyed your bird posts on FB. We have 2 families of Osprey nesting in view of he kitchen window (with binoculars) They fledglings are growing but not yet flying. I love watching the adults teach them how to fly and hunt.

  4. 90
% are terrific odds for positive outcomes for a young woman. I understand the worry about her, and the low points she is having. While no doubt some millennials are doing OK, many are stuck trying to make ends meet, let alone be able to fully live out their ambitions. I'll keep sending good thought.

  5. I am so happy you posted about this as I have been worrying about her and praying for her. I have your little soap stone sculpture up on a shelf in the living room reminding me to keep you and Kazi always in my heart and prayers. this is such a scary experience for you both. Stay strong. 90% is great.

  7. Thanks everyone for your uplifting comments! Catching things early like T'Pol mentioned is key! Kazi has regular pap tests (thank God for great healthcare) and that's where the bad cells were seen.
Cheapchick - there's a vaccine now I think to help prevent these cells from developing. I immediately turned to the internet when this started with Kazi - I often wonder how I managed without google for all those years :)
Spring is helping, that's for sure! It's so nice to get outside for hikes and bike rides. It would be nice to be able to plan a trip, that's what I'm usually doing this time of year. However I also have a few renos I'd like to get completed so maybe this is the year of no trips. We'll see. I like having something to look forward to so we'll at least have a Spa day after she gets her results. Staying positive!
Kim - I teared up reading your comment - thank you for your prayers, it means a lot to me!
Yes, 90% would be a great mark on a test at school right? When Kazi told me that the doctor had given her this info I felt instant relief :)

  9. I've been away so just catching up on my blog reading. I'm so glad things are looking positive for Kazi - 90% is very good. Now you describe her procedure I realize I had the same thing about 6 years ago (I just didn't remember the name). I had to keep going back until I got 3 clear tests but the third one kept coming back "wonky" for a while. I made it in the end though and here I am bright and chipper. And I'm sure Kazi will too!

  10. My husband left me last year after 25 years of marriage (he turned 50). It has been the most difficult year of my life, but full of lessons about myself and what life and marriage are all about. I am passionate about marriage and i didn't give up on my husband. resides in USA, I entered online in search of advice on how i can amend my marriage while i was at work. I saw so many positive reviews and nice feed back about how a Doctor called Robinson.buckler@yahoo.com has been wonderful with his work. I gave a shot to make contact with him via his Email and he assured me that my marriage will be peaceful and i believed in his words. 16 hours after he finished work, my husband came back home pleading and now, we are living peacefully again. Get in contact with him if you need any help.
