Funky Blues

I have been in a bit of a funk lately! And I had very good reason to be; you see....
a new EA who started working in my school last October recently accused me, my Dep't Head and one of our VP's....
of bullying and harassment - yes you heard me correctly...the truth of the matter is...
she was really upset because she had been declared surplus at the school she used to work at...
and turned that feeling into a large festering wound that spilled over onto those of us who tried to get her to do her job.
She also had many personal issues she was dealing with at the time and made a lot of bad choices and decisions. Some illegal ones.
The good news in all of this, yes there is good news, is that her accusations against us were dismissed and she is under a trespass order - she can't come into the school where I work.
She received a slap on the hand (kind of laughable when you consider the seriousness of what she did which was basically slander and defamation of character) and has been placed in another school!! Scary! She has been ordered to do some training etc and is closely supervised.
The investigation continues with a focus on the other, illegal things that she has done which do not pertain to me or my other colleagues.

It has been a truly horrendous experience, one I hope never to repeat.

I am slowly coming out of my funk. I am lucky to have a "life coach" as a partner and he has stood by me through all of this. Thank you Michael. My daughter, who weighs about 90 lbs offered to go beat her up for me lol,  Of course she was just kidding - we are a peace loving bunch and not exactly strong in the physical department :)

  1. Oh wow, I'm so sorry! I'm glad it's over! But I can't believe they still kept her in school system. It IS scary!

I believe your mental health will likely improve vastly when you get to retire from teaching - it seems the school systems allow a lot of bad apples to remain in them versus firing them which is really what ought to be done. You have a very good man backing you up - and obviously a lovely daughter who is feeling very protective of Mom :) When my Aunt who was a computer programmer for the US Government (back when computers where as big as rooms) was trying to make it to retirement a friend gave her a paperclip chain - made of one paperclip for every day until retirement - maybe something you might want to make for yourself!

  4. Jane,

Glad this nightmare is sort of over. It's never fully over till that person is made accountable for their mistakes and issues. I can only hope that Karma will happen in the end so you and your family finally find peace with this horrible situation that I'm sure took a tole on your quality of life while it was unfolding.

I've dealt with this type of S__T and it's not pleasant but in the end I became a stronger person as I'm sure you have too.

Help's a lot when you have a life coach with a great smile.
Just keep counting those days down to Summer vacation and finally retirement.

  5. Thank you my PEI friend. A summer at Crofters Lane will heal me like nothing else can. It has been a blow to my self esteem even though I did nothing wrong. It really was a nightmare and I still don't trust 100% that it is over. 67 days to go!

  6. I love that idea - I've seen paper chains used for that purpose too, but paper clips make more sense for me (and takes up less space). I think you've given me a great idea - thanks!

  8. I think when all is said and done she will have to leave the school board, it takes a long time for everything to get sorted out though.

  9. Jane, I'm glad to know things are getting better at work. I laughed at the comment about your DD offering to beat her up... Gotta love daughters. How many more days before you and Dougie the Dodge hit the road? 75?

  10. Why to people have to inflict their misery on other people is beyond me. Glad to see you are now back to 'normal'!

  11. Nothing worse than to be accused when you now you are innocents. I am sorry that you had to go through this. How awful. But right prevailed. I have your little soap stone figure up in the formal living room and every time I see it I smile.

  13. Oh wow! Work's been a heck of a time for you the past year. Glad this has been (sort of) resolved. What are you going to do, right? Happy to hear you're out of your funk, though. That's great news! Hopefully the next 433 work days will not be so exciting... xx

  21. Holy crap, Jane how awful! Scary that she's off to harass others too. What's wrong with the school district? They should ban her from every school.

Glad you made it through. I'm glad Michael was there for you too! :)!
